Business magnate and investor Elon Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, launched a new fragrance last week. Burnt Hair, or “The Essence of Repugnant Desire,” as it’s called on The Boring Company’s website, is designed to capture the aroma of burnt hair.

Musk originally joked about the perfume in September on Twitter, and now his company is officially selling the unique fragrance for $100 online. Musk even changed his bio on Twitter to call himself “Perfume Salesman.”

On October 18, Musk claimed on Twitter that 28,700 bottles of exquisite Burnt Hair perfume had already been sold. A few hours later, he announced that the product was sold out.

This is only the latest “meme” product to come from Musk’s The Boring Company, like the $500 flamethrowers he sold in 2018 or the Tesla-branded satin shorts he debuted in 2020.

Burnt Hair will ship in the first quarter of 2023.
